Plenty (Edgeworth/Iris, G)
Title: Plenty
Fandom: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Completion date: November 16th, 2008
Rating: G
Wordcount: 205
Pairing: Edgeworth/Iris
Warnings: Minor spoilers for 3-5.
Prompt: Anon, my kink is sugar daddies. 8'D I want an AA guy going all out to please his girl. I'm thinking someone like Edgeworth, Gant, Klavier, or Kristoph (even Franziska if you wanna go with femmeslash), someone who's got enough money to shower their lover with all kinds of extravagant gifts, someone who might not even be interested in a relationship but loves having a pretty thing hanging on their arm for them to pamper and spoil. Ideal sugar babies would be Adrian, Angel, Iris, or Vera. Sexytiems are optional. Crack is encouraged. Pretty please? <3

     "Yes, it fits perfectly ...! And these ... Y-You didn't need to go to so much trouble."

     It was true: Edgeworth didn't. Galas were nothing but a spectacular waste of funds.
     That wasn't the point. His gaze darted, away from Iris's in the mirror; she was pink again, a fetching shade spreading over her cheekbones toward her smile.
     "It was no trouble."
     She paused, a gold pin nearly secure in her tight-coiled bun. Their eyes caught. They always saw each other too clearly.
     He glanced away, something stirring at the corner of his mouth.
     "... The day I was your defense lawyer, you gave me an opportunity to ... be something I've always wished to be." His hand hummed bloodless; he unclenched it from his sleeve. "It's only fair that I return the favour."
     Iris looked at herself a final time in the mirror -- eyes wide, like every time -- and approached him. Her ordinary robe was nearly purple enough, just not regal Tyrian like this silk whispering around her. This was what she deserved.

     "I don't know how I'll ever thank you enough, Miles ..."
     Words never did these things justice. The tug at his mouth spread wide into a smile, as he offered an elbow and she accepted.
     "There's no need."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was on the bus today, zoning out, when my brain randomly went, "OMG you never posted that Edgeworth/Iris sugar daddy fic to the ficjournal!" and I was all, "Dude!"
My first thought, upon reading the prompt, was that Edgeworth would be a freaking perfect sugar daddy. Besides being canonically rich, he tends to express fondness and gratitude by instantly, wordlessly using his money to help out. Like paying Maya's bail in 1-4, or buying Gumshoe lunch in 3-5. Add in the very personal opportunity Iris's case gave him, and the fact that Iris could use someone to treat her well, and that equals a great big awwww for me, dunno about anyone else.
Damnit, now I want to write more Edgeworth/Iris. They just make so much sense.
I can see this happening for all the reasons you mentioned. Iris does need a break, and I was upset that, while playing him, Edgeworth never thought about that he used to want to be a defense attorney like his dad. This puts the two together really well.
Everything is better with Godot grinning at it.
I can see the writers not wanting to go any deeper into Edgeworth than his fear of earthquakes, since there was already so much to sum up in 3-5. Redd White isn't even mentioned by name! It's just "Mia was murdered" for simplicity's sake, even though that event set all of T&T's plot in motion. But yeah, it's a shame Edgeworth defending a client wasn't acknowledged as the coming full circle that it really is. Guess they trusted that the veteran players would get it.
